It is so easy to forget that Anne Frank (Annelies was her full name) was not just a historical figure. Like most youngsters, she had her personal heroes — she kept a photograph of Britain’s Princess Elizabeth pinned to the wall next to her bed. The legacy of Anne’s diary and her death has been profound. Courageous and intelligent, she would have turned 90 this year — but Anne did not get to grow up and become a little old lady.

An exquisitely layered masterpiece in which Whitbourn uses his instrumental and vocal forces to superb effect.
