Like any artistic and cultural tradition that is not part of the mainstream, only the tireless commitment of choral music supporters can ensure its continued development and excellence. For more than a century, donors and music patrons like you have contributed to the rise of choral music in Ottawa.
The Ottawa Choral Society is a registered non-profit organization, governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. The Society is reliant on its own ability to fund its operations. With minimal financial support from other sources, The Ottawa Choral Society is fully dependent on the support of its donors, members and concert patrons. We are grateful to our donors for helping to ensure the excellence of the choral tradition in this city.
YOUR DONATIONS AT WORK IN 4 ESSENTIAL WAYS |
1. supporting our Concert PerformancesPatron ticket revenue never covers the full cost of staging our concerts. Venue rental fees and the cost of musical accompaniment, orchestras and soloists are considerable. With your assistance we can stage interesting and entertaining concerts in partnership with some of the best talent in Canadian music. |
Attracting great choristers and establishing the appropriate mentorship and vocal development programs for our singers is an important part of our annual budget. In addition we engage a full time music director who brings great experience and talent to the development of the choir.
Keeping choral music relevant as a dynamic and evolving cultural and artistic tradition is a priority of the Society. To do this we provide financial support to composers to produce new choral compositions which can be performed by the choir.
The Society makes funding available to defray costs for young choristers who join the choir, and also establishes bursaries through our New Discoveries program which awards emerging professional Canadian vocalists, through jury selection, at our New Discoveries auditions.
