Throughout the fall semester we will be examining four magnificent choral masterworks. The first half of each presentation will be a lecture led by Series host, Jean-Sébastien Vallée who will help participants to discover the complexity and motivation of these compositions through an examination of their music, libretto, style, and historical contexts.
Prior to the first meeting, participants will receive a guide and will be invited to listen to the selected samples in each of the masterworks at their own pace.
The second half of each session will take the form of an informal discussion and chat-back focusing on the performance practice of the works with prominent guest artists.
