Reincarnations Samuel Barber’s Reincarnations and Ola Gjeilo’s Sunrise Mass Tickets Date Sunday, March 8, 2026 Time 3:00pm Location St. Francis of Assisi, 20 Fairmont Avenue, Ottawa Event Details Featuring Samuel Barber’s Reincarnations and Ola Gjeilo’s Sunrise Mass, and other works of comfort and hope In the lead-up to St. Patrick’s Day and later Easter, the OCS will feature Samuel Barber’s Reincarnations, a choral setting of the poems of Irish poet James Stephens inspired by the “last travelling bard” Raftery. The principal work will be Ola Gjeilo’s Sunrise Mass. Featured Artists Gabrielle Gaudreault OCS Artistic Director Gabrielle Gaudreault is the Artistic Director of the Ottawa Choral Society and the Saint-Lambert Choral Society. A sought-after conductor, pedagogue and collaborative pianist, Dr. Gaudreault has previously served as Assistant Conductor to Maestro Kent Nagano at the Staatsoper Hamburg, Associate Conductor of the National Children’s Chorus in Washington, D.C., Artistic Director of the South Shore Children’s Chorus in Saint-Lambert, QC, Music Director of the St-Augustine’s Church Choir in St-Bruno, QC, and Apprentice Conductor of the National Youth Choir of Canada. In 2020, she co-founded CG Music Academy in Arlington, VA with her husband Chris. Gabrielle completed her Doctorate in Choral Conducting at McGill University in spring 2020 and holds an MA in Music Theory and Choral Conducting from Indiana University. Her research focuses on pedagogical approaches to the choral rehearsal and late-20th-century choral works by Québécois composers. Read More Gabrielle Gaudreault OCS Artistic Director Read More Emma Lassiter Assistant Conductor A dual citizen of the United States and Canada, Emma holds a Bachelor of Music in Choral Music Education from Appalachian State University and a Master of Music in Choral Music Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She taught middle and high school choir in North Carolina for several years before moving to Ottawa in 2023. Emma currently directs a community singing group for people with aphasia following stroke as part of a research study with the University of Ottawa. She also works with the Centre for Accessible Learning at Algonquin College. She is passionate about making music an inclusive and joyful experience, cherishing every opportunity to sing, learn, and create alongside the ensembles she directs. It was born in 2007 through its collaborations with various choral ensembles in Ottawa and since that time has appeared frequently with the Ottawa Choral Society and the Ottawa Bach Choir, and in presentations of the choirs of Christ Church Cathedral.
